September is National Suicide Prevention Month. All month, mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to promote suicide awareness.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, the construction industry has the highest suicide rate of all industries – five times higher than the national average. Those losses greatly affect families, workplaces, organizations, and communities.
Each year, the construction industry dedicates a week to raising awareness of this critical – yet often stigmatized – issue. This week – September 4 through 8, 2023 – will allow our industry to unite to educate our community members, identify resources and shift our perception around this issue.
